I Welcome a Recession, and Here’s Why You Should, Too
A plethora of economic pundits have predicted we’re headed for a recession. Whether it happens this year or next, despite the Federal Reserve’s efforts to slow the juggernaut, it’s coming. But I’m not the tiniest bit perturbed.
It’s not because I’m wealthy. I’m supporting my young-adult son and maintaining a home in a pricey Long Island community on my moderate salary alone.
I think I need a recession, and I’m guessing I’m not alone. Here’s why: A recession is an opportunity to reset.
We’ve been here before. During the height of Covid, our wings were figuratively clipped by the lockdown. Those of us fortunate enough to keep our jobs had disposable income but nothing much in the way of experiences to spend it on. We took to cleaning, shopping on Instacart and Amazon, and home-organizing with a vengeance.
Some of us heeded the inner invitation to get still, and after a bit of frustrated, frightened sulking, we got down to the business of excavating our essence, figuring out what we really value, who we want in our “pod” and how we can live an authentic, loving, joy-filled life within the confines of our home and Zoom gatherings.
